Has Bill Meiers UFO behind the tree been proven to be Hoax?

I'm not asking if you believe in UFO/aliens or anything for that matter, but if you do please elaborate. If not, just tell me if it's a hoax or not. From what I heard skeptics have attacked the video tape for ages however, not one has been able to manipulate the footage as if and if any tampering has been done.

Note: this was back in the 1970s! No special effect specialist (no photoshop or final cut.)

Best answer for those who give me the source where Billy Meiers UFO footage was a hoax; only proof.

First of all I do believe that there are other societies and there is life out beyond the space we know. We are not the only living things, and I believe eventually that will be proven.

However, I just cannot find that footage to be believable. I know it was from the 70's but it just does not look right, know what I mean?

The saucer is very smooth whereas the scenery and tree seem to almost look as if it is a time lapse.

It looks like the saucer is being hung from a string and just swung back and forth, doesn't it? And the landscape is purely a model, if not edited in all together by some expert trickery.

Plus how fishy is that, that your camera is randomly set up facing a countryside or your backyard and poof! a UFO comes into frame perfectly?

Now I couldn't tell you for sure if this is a hoax or not but a lot of this dude's past claims to ufo contact have indeed been proven lies, you can do a simple google search and see.

I think the better question is did he actually believe in this or was he doing it for attention.

You don't need expensive special effects or any sort of post-editing to fake a UFO filming. All you need is a model or a toy.

Since the photographic image is 2, rather than 3, dimensional, the viewer can be easily fooled about the relative sizes and positions of the objects filmed.  Movie makers have been using this trick since the 1920's.  One famous example is the closing of the movie Casablanca. The ending was filmed on a soundstage rather than at an airstrip.  To create the illusion of space, the produced used a reduced-size model of an airplane, and hired a midget to stand beside at as the plane's steward.
