Question:

Has Brown got it wrong again on food waste?

Apparently households throw away 4million tons of food each year (who weighs it all I wonder?) yet in March 2008 a report was produced showing that 16million tons of food was destroyed/thrown away by farmers, supermarkets, shops and restuarants.

Surely the message in our flagging econonmy should not be;

DON'T BUY!

but use it more efficiently by cooking it and then freezing what you don't eat so you can use it another day?

  1. Well that isn't going to get us out of the mess he's got us into - he has run out of ideas there ...

  2. I am sick and tired of being made to feel like am donig wrong because Brown says i am.

Now the world food shortage is because i throw away a bit of food.  Well Browny look at the reaturants, supermarkets, takeaways who are always throwing away food.

Then look at how it is distributed.

That is the problem - the distribution of food.  There is plenty to go around but you f'ckwittted politicins cant get over yourselves sufficiently to put a decnt plan in place.

I cannot influence the distribution of food.  You can.

    STOP BLAMING ME BROWN!!!

  3. big time, the big mugs all get together and work out a way to blame Joe bloggs for the complete mess they are making of the world economy. that is the most laughable statement he has made in his time as an unelected , unwanted, minister.

  4. There are all kinds of reason for waste, laziness, don't want to eat leftovers, food gets pushed to the back etc....What I try and do now, is eat what we have (even if it means a strange hodge podge) and only buy after we've eaten everything else. If I do have waste, I throw it on the compost heap. I know that's not realistic for everyone but even if there was a big communal tumbler type on every block, it would mean less garbage and great soil for a community garden.

  5. Well wonder how much Gordon the Gnome throws out. He looks fat so maybe not.

Maybe it would be a good idea to eat a little less we would all be much fitter. You listening Gordon

  6. I find this story ironic when I recently read about John Prescott and his bulimia ....

Jeezus, I can't wait for the General Election to come around so people can vote out these Nu-Lab clowns.

  7. Perhaps we need to get out grandma's wartime cookery book? Seriously, i have just been watching an old TV programme called the wartime kitchen and garden, that wartime generation could sure tell us a thing or two about saving food and recycling.

As for shops throwing stuff out, its down to the best before dates, although with a little better planning they could surely sell more of it off a little cheaper, and benefit those on low incomes from the savings.

  8. Does Brown ever get it right? Unelected Scottish ****!
