Scott B, I care and so do the citizens of Canada. Don't answer a question if you don't have anything nice to say.

  1. Apparently tropical storm doria in 1971 hit it kind of.

I don't know why some people can't use google for things like this :)  but hope i helped..

  2. no i dont think it has.

  3. Who cares, its Canada

  4. I'm almost 100% sure that is a no. They have probably gotten the remains of what used to be a powerful storm if it made it that far.

  5. Yes the west and east coasts are not immune to it, it happens very little because the colder water that surrounds our country robs these storms of their power.

  6. In all of history? Yes...

But it's placement on the globe keeps the storms away because hurricane's and other forms of storms are called "Tropical" storms for a reason... They need REALLY HOT and REALLY COLD air to mix and become a super storm.

  7. Canada is surrounded by cold water.  You need warm water to have a tropical storm or hurricane.  It's the same reason the West Coast of the USA doesn't see much.  The currents come down from Alaska.... which means the water at the beach is cold on the West Coast.  On the East coast, the currents flow in the opposite direction bringing the warm water up from the Equator.  Warm water accellerates the evaporation process, and wind speeds necessary to create hurricane conditions.

On very (underline very) rare occassion, this has happened:

On Sept. 29, 2003, Hurricane Juan smashed though Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, leaving seven people dead and at least $100 million in damage.

  8. Yes !!! I remember hurricane Hazel did major damage in Canada in 1954

  9. ya it has .......... check the website

  10. Nova Scotia and Newfoundland usually get hit a lot worse because they stick out further toward the Gulf Stream where the Hurricanes tend to track.

and listen you people who put down those that don't know answers...there are some things you don't know either. People that  ask have curiosity and courage to speak up and ask.  The only stupid people are those that are intolerant and those that sit in ignorance.

No matter how old you are....you will be learning something new all the time.

  11. yes they have had several times.

Man, how embarrassing to live in America and my fellow Americans don't even know a thing about the neighbors to our north.

Use search engines and you will see they have them just like America.

  12. h**l yeah, in Toronto like 50-ish years ago!  I forget what it was called but it started with an H...Helen maybe?

Other than that the maritimes get lots of the leftover c**p from the storms that used to be hurricanes.

Helen(?) was a hurricane that died down and picked up again over lake Ontario...it was pretty vicious so I hear.  And just so you know...Canada isn't cold all the freaking time.  It gets so hot in most places...

I mean it hardly even ever snows in Vancouver.

Not questioning your intelligence...I'm just saying to that certain country who doesn't give a d**n about us to the south generally has no idea about what we're all about up here.

    It was HAZEL.

    Sorry about that.
