It seems Congress is trying to right itself towards the end of these Administration.

It failed to enforce the 1996 Anti-Torture Law of 1996. http://judiciary.house.gov/ - take its course.

This is not about Republican or Democrat - it is about Congress failing to enforce Checks and Balances even after two Supreme Court Rulings against this Administration.

  1. Our Congress has sadly become more and more like the Russian Duma. Subservient to the president and his whims. It baffles me why Congress has no spine. It doesn't matter who is in it, it always seems to rely on nothing but rhetoric and political backstabbing. Forget the Duma, it's become a new Senate from the old Roman Republic. Many of the senators in Congress have been there for over a decade or two, some as many as 30 years. They seem more interested in preserving their own elitist power and keeping themselves in office, which means no rocking of the boat. They know they'll be around long after the president's term ends. A term limit on people running for Congress would be nice, along with more parties besides the two patriarchal houses. That's what they are after all, you can call them political parties, but they are more like feudal noble houses in a medieval court. They seem to think America works for them, when it's exactly the other way around. They work for us, we are the employer of our representatives and I think we should start reminding them that.
