Has D'Brickashaw Ferguson been a bust for the Jets?

I'm a Jets fan and I was kinda mad when we drafted him in '06 over guys like Leinart, Cutler, AJ Hawk, Laurence Maroney, etc. And D'brick hasn't really impressed me at all in past 2 seasons. Scouts said that he long arms so and quick feet so it makes him a great Passblocker, but he so far he hasn't lived up to the hype. He kinda reminds me of DT Dewayne Robertson who we took with the 4th pick in the '03 draft, who turned out to be a Huge Bust. Do you think D'brick will step up this year being the blindside protection for Brett Favre?

  1. You'll see him do a lot better this year being his third year in the league.  It's hard for a offensive lineman to adjust as quick as a running back or reciever.  It's harder for an o-line man to adjust because the pressure from the defensive front four is a lot better than it is in college.  Give him time he'll be alright,

  2. how many sacks did he give up? i dont think too many. if you don't hear a linemans name he is doing his job

  3. Although D'Brickashaw regressed some last season, calling him a bust is simply out the question. He is a young, talented LT, and he is already an above average starter in the league. How is he a bust?

Even Dewayn Robertson wasn't a HUGE bust. He wasn't the player they expected him to be, but he still was a capable starter for the most part - good enough, not great, but worthy of a starting position.... Not worthy of his gigantic contract.

One of the reasons Ferguson struggled some last year was because the Jets offense in general struggled. For one, Kellen Clemons is simply no good. Combine that with the loss of a few o-linemen (Mangold and D'Brick can't do it all), and their line was bound to struggle last year. This year, they improved their line, and got a new QB. I think they'll be a vastly better offensive line this year, and D'Brickashaw will continue to develop into one of the better tackles in the NFL.

  4. D'Brickshaw underrated and I think next year... he'll be more credited if Favre gets less sacks.

  5. He can't fly under the radar now. Favre's coming to town and when he misses blocks now, everybody will know it.
