Question:

Has Devin been taken over by unisex abusers to be used for a boy?

I like the name Devin, which is a /masculine/ (emphasis) Irish boys' name.

However... there's the issue of the unisex cretins. Have they feminised this one beyond respectable use for a boy?

And no - changing the spelling will not change the gender connotation. Traditional spelling or nil.

  1. i dont get the question....its fine for both. i know a girl named devon

  2. Overall, I'd say no.  I think Devin is still a boy's name.  The only people I know with the names are boys.

You can spell it Devin or Devon btw.  I don't know how the Irish spell it.

  3. People are going to think it's the name Devon - the oh-so-fashionable use of the English county name for a girl - which you've managed to get wrong for a boy.

Personally, I would avoid it like the plague.

It's a rubbish old name either way.

  4. its still primarily a boys name, i have a friend (girl) named devon and  when people see her name on paper, alot of people think its a boy.

  5. i always thought it odd when someone would say their girls name was devin..lol if you plan on naming your baby devin..go ahead..i dont think its been taken over yet..lol

  6. I love Devin for a boy, much more than for a girl (though I still don't mind it). It's on my favorites list, and I really think you should use it. Good luck.

    Devin-unisex

    Devon-unisex

    Devyn-unisex

  8. Unfortunately, the unisex abusers have overtaken a LOT of masculine names.  It makes me sick.  I wish people had class!

In my opinion, Devin should be a boy only name.  Same with Charlie, Ryan, Kevin, and Evan.  My brother is a Kevin and goes to school with a girl named Kevynn!! ARRRGH!!

  9. I knew a girl named Devin. I personally believe it is only for boys like the name Logan which I also know a girl named Logan. Why can't people let some names be for one gender?
