Question:

Has Eskom built a new power station?

With this cold weather, I thought there would have been a high demand for electricity - now why is there no need for load shedding? Have they really been trying to fool us all along? What has changed ?

  1. Maybe they got a consultant or two from overseas to come and show them how to throw the switches, so that the power that gets generated actually leave the power stations.

The other reason could be that they were asleep after drinking out all their bonus money received in December and actually forgot to switch them on.

  2. Redhead......I really hope so, I have been spoiled these last few weeks with 24h electricity!

  3. No new power stations has been built. It takes 5-6years to do this.

THE ONLY REASON WHY WE HAVE NO LOAD SHEDDING IS ESKOM HAS BEEN ABLE TO NEGOTIATE THE SIXTH TURBINE AT CAHORA BASSA TO BE STARTED UP. THIS UNIT HAS ONLY COME INTO AFFECT IN THE PAST WHEN MAINTANANCE HAD TO BE DONE ON ONE OF THE OTHER UNITS. THERE WILL BE LOAD SHEDDING IF THERE HAS TO WORKED ON THEM.

They are currently bussy with the building of the Mega Station in Ellisras, 2 more in Mpumalanga, the one in PE and the new Nueclear station in the Cape.

  4. I was wondering the same thing.

Though we did have two power failures last week

  5. The first part of the Darling Wind farm is now on the grid. Supplying 5,2 megawatt.  All sold to Cape Town.

  6. All the poo produced by the government ministers is being used to power new-fangled S**t generators. The methane that rises from their mouths (the source of the faeces) powers the generators.

  7. I don't know the answer to your question. I'm just waiting for them to build that pebble-bed reactor that we have been hearing about for so long.

  8. Maybe there is load shedding going on, just not where you live. We haven't had any either, but who knows. If you watch Isidingo on 3, you'll see they are forever having "loadshedding problems" (in the show). Seeing that it is shot on location in Johannesburg, all the loadshedding must be happening there. LOL.

Any way, if Eskom had built a new power station, we would have known about it. They are so desperate for positive publicity that they would have told us about it.
