  1. No.  Our concept of Him has though

  2. The Human concept of God has evolved over time, but fictional beings are not capable of evolving.

  3. No - he is still the same evil, insane being he was when humans first invented him

  4. Yes, as man needs have changed, the perception of God has changed.  Man adapts his myths to fit the situation.

  5. No.

    Perfection does not evolve.

  6. no, if you want more read Quran chapter 112.

  7. No. God is eternal. If he evolved to his current status, what was he before that and then before that? It would imply that there was a time when he came into being and has somehow grown to maturity. Eternality is timelessness, and there is no beginning for God from which to evolve.

  8. No.

39 For behold, this is my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

  9. Religion and human ideas of God have evolved.  Check out Karen Armstrong's books.

  10. No God is the same as He was before the Earth and planets and stars and sun and moon and all living things on Earth were created and He'll be here at the end of time.

  11. Imaginary creatures don't evolve.  Except for Pokemon, and maybe Digimon.

  12. God IS evolution. yeah.

  13. I believe my gods evolved.

  14. well more of the idea, in the old days even smart people beleived him but now its manly those with out common scence

  15. No.  Only the imperfect needs to do that.  What has evolved is man's understanding of Him.

  16. NO  AS  JESUS  THE  CHRIST  THE  SAME  YESTERDAY  TODAY  AND  TOMORROW.    THANK  YOU  D'S

  17. YES

  18. NO.

  19. No but on occasion one of the fundie Atheists that hangs out in here all day evolves into a normal rational intelligent Atheist. Will you be the next one to evolve into a normal Atheist?

  20. Of course, the concept of god has evolved not only throughout the old and new testaments but has continued to evolve to the present.  It is clear from the various writings throughout the ages that man's concept of God has changed.

  21. Something that does not exist cannot evolve.

  22. Here is some clarity for you.

    The 'god concept' has evolved.

There is no real god to evolve.

  23. Yes, the god of the hebrew/christian bible evolved greatly over the course of the book, and since the book was finalized is evolving even to this day in human understanding of "him".

If you look at the bible closely you will see god evolving from the beginning to the end. And even though the whole story has been pretty much laid out for about 1700 years, give or take, it continues to evolve in that we keep saddling it with our current expectations.

In the beginning of the bible god is obviously of the pantheistic variety; he walks around the earth observing things when he arrives, not just knowing them (garden of eden, cain and able, etc). He "goes down" to places to see what's going on (sodom and gommorah). He gets informed of things by other beings (angels, satan). He has fits of rage for which he is later repentant (the flood).

Look at the commandments; "you shall have no other gods before me". Very curious when you look at god as we understand him now. In our modern understanding this statement is ridiculous; of COURSE there is no other god before him! He created the universe so unless he created other gods then there couldn't very well be any other ones either before OR after him, right? But that isn't what it says. It plainly implies that there ARE other gods, but that this god expects that he will be your numero uno.

My favorite hidden (yet so obvious) sign of this phenomena in the bible comes in just this spot. Moses, the chosen one of god who the tribes are following because he has been working miracles on a nearly daily basis, says "wait here while I go up this mountain and talk to god". So what do they do? They build an idol to a strange god!! No one on this planet has ever seen a single miracle the likes of which Moses was (purportedly) working on a regular basis in the name of this Yahweh character, yet these people can't wait a few days until they start building idols to a cow?! Do you really think they believed in yahweh (at least as the one and ONLY god)?

A few centuries, and even just a few decades ago, the common view of god in christianity was of a terrible and wrathful being who should be feared and respected, but not really loved. Look around the world now and only a minority of christians still hold this sort of view (Westboro Baptist being a great example). The vast majority of christians see god as an omnibenevolent character who loves us all, even as he sends us to eternal suffering in h**l.

Other examples abound. The myth of America being settled by people who believed in religious equality is the paramount of willful ignorance. The oppressed settlers of the New World invariably became world class religious bigots. Puritans, anglicans, episcopalians, presbyterians; all became official religions of the various colonies (and then states) and every single colony/state initially passed laws forbidding the practice of any other religion to one extent or another. Catholic and jewish prosecution in America is common even in this day and age, but people were routinely jailed in colonial times for preaching baptist theology. James Madison defended baptists jailed for public preaching on a pro bono basis because they were too poor to afford defense! (How the times have changed since!)

Slavery was supported up to and during the US civil war largely under religious support by southern clergy.

Female suffrage was largely opposed as a contradiction of "god's law". (Most Americans seem to forget that blacks were granted equal rights 50 YEARS before women in the US!) To this day it is still acceptable to deny women positions as clergy, although there are no churches where it is (openly) permissible to deny a black man.

Yet, despite all of these obvious contradictions modern christians devoutly maintain that Jesus christ is the same "yesterday, today and forever". BS!

  24. The idea of God has evolved from no conception of deities at all, to the ideas of animism which still exist in rural agrarian parts of China, to spirit worship, to polytheism, to momotheism, to humanism and deism, agnosticism along with existentialism and nihilism. Atheism has always existed as the counter idea to every religion, but modern religious thought along with science give it increasing power and appeal.

  25. who know's, but i don't think so

  26. No. Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the end.
