Has Latin America ever had conflict with another country/region over mountains, rivers, other geog. features?

  1. Right now Nicaragua wants to take charge of the Island of San Andres that belongs to Colombia... ridiculous in this time but they say San Andres is closer to them and in their territorial ocean and so on.... but Colombia will never let go!

    Besides, if they want to take it, all the property inside is owned by colombianos, so what are they going to do about it?


  2. Honduras has a dispute with El Salvador about an island called Isla del Tigre and Nicaragua about some territory called Parallel 17.

  6. Gran Colombia used to be present day Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama...

    Political differences led to the nations of Venezuela and Ecuador...(hence the similar flags)

    Colombia went into a  Civil war with Panama, who was backed by the USA due to the intentions of building the Canal) and Panama gained their independence

    Colombia also had territorial issues with Peru over the Amazon region....

    Currenty, most of Colombia's turmoils are within the country between the government and the guerilla rebel groups
