Last night, on the sports news, Harvey made the claim that Fremantle Dockers rover Peter Bell is on a par & is as good as Leigh Matthews was.
It's OK to build up your players confidence for whatever reason - but making such statements is bordering on the ridiculous.
Leigh Matthews was voted, by his peers, as the player of the 20th century. He was a goal kicker, a knuckle man, a hard ball getter, ....in actual fact an all-round footballer - hence the award accredited to him.
Peter Bell rarely kicks more than one goal a game; hardly ever gets a hard ball (not for a few years now, anyway) & stats prove he picks up most of his stats in the backline receiving uncontested possessions. He may be a good footballer - but who rates him with Leigh Matthews?
