Nobody knows the complete story and we shouldn't ,, Do you want all of your dirty laundry exposed to the public??  This was between McCain and his wife,, private..   we don't know if she was shacking up with another man while he was a POW,, we don't know if she got into drugs while he was a POW,, We don't know anything except what the news media wants us to know and this is only to sway our vote against McCain..  I don't trust the news media ,, Even though they have to report only the facts,, the facts can be distorted when a few of the facts are left out,,,        Good Luck

This is a dumb question. How we would know this? She actually moved on while he was  POW and found someone new so I would say she caused him a great deal of pain as well.
