Has Michael Phelps saved the USA's Olympics?

Even though we have the most medal (though China has more golds), we are not winning in some of our traditionally dominated sports.

USA women's softball choked.

Our sprinters got destroyed.

USA Men's BBall is playing like c**p against Argentina and could very well lose.

But, in the end, can we at least say, "Hey Phelps won 8!"

  1. no USA needs no savin

  2. 58-44 usa

  3. yes

  4. no.

  5. I would have to say that Michael Phelps was AMAZING in the olympics. He made our country stand out but I'm not quite sure what you are talking about "Has Michael Phelps saved the USA's Olympics?" To that question I must say no because there was nothing to save us from. Our USA Teams all together have done some awesome things. Beach volleyball won their 2nd Consecutive Gold Medal which has never been done before and some other teams really did well.

USA Women's softball did not get "choked". All teams have their on and off days and it was their off day. The USA team beat Japan the day before in an international tie-breaker. Japan is one of the top teams in the world next to us no matter what happened at the olympics. It's also hard to get better as a team when you are already the best. Hey, we knew this day would come sometime...didn't we?

  6. Definitely Phelps has greatness, the team USA is the better for it. But to say he saved the US A's Olympics diminishes the other athletes who also won their events.

  7. not American but in the end you can say we won over 100 medals which is d**n good

  8. Save the USA Olympics from what? Every nation who participated should be proud whether they win a medal or not. Congratulations to all athletes and the various countries who made the attempt.

  9. ummm, usa is beating argentina dude.

  10. Yes and No, if we didn't have the golds from beach volleyball and others like that it would be almost all Michael Phelps, but yes I agree with you, great question.

  11. yep :) we can say that! I'm kind of sad that the swimming is over cause, Michael Phelps kind of made me more intested in watching it(and Nastia Luikin,Shawn Johnson and Jonathan Horton...)

Michael Phelps won 8 gold medals.. that is awesome

  12. Saved it? Hey, I support my country and my countrymen (and women)all day long but I am not as naive to believe that their individual successes truly reflect upon me. Sure everyone wants to do well, but if they hadn't I wouldn't have said "wow we really lost the olympics." Things happen and many Americans have done well. I enjoyed watching everyone compete and seeing the likes of our volleyball teams, gymnasts and soccer team do well is enough for me. I don't need Michael or anyone else to save the games for me. I'm happy he did well and I'm happy he's American but I'd be just as awed by such an achievement if he weren't my countryman.

  13. Of course he hasn't won the olympics for the US.  He has made it really exciting to watch and to cheer him on.

Well, the BBall playing like c**p is stomping on Argentina as we speak.  USA will win... no doubt

  14. only if your counting by gold!! :)

  15. ya or no idk

  16. UM i been watching the whole game and your a IDIOT they pulled a little bit close but come on dude Ginobli is out do you really think the can win even if they get a lead, even if delfino shoots 30 3s the US would  come back and win, and then walk threw spain

and softball shoulda have won but i guess the US is soooo good that they have to take it away from the olympics, yeah i love haters too

quit being a hater, but yes phelps made it interesting to watch this summer and its cool he did what he did
