Has NATO made the correct move by rejecting Ukraine and Georgia from membership?

Anarchis dont you think by the move they have prevented Russia from flexing their muscles?

NATO tried to appease Putin the same way Western Europe tried to appease Hitler when he was mouthing off:  "If we just give him what he wants, maybe he'll go away and leave us alone."

The move this time was every bit as correct as the earlier decision was.

They didn't "reject" their membership; they just didn't decide to admit them right NOW.

The NATO set certain conditions for membership, such as having fair and democratic elections in all applying countries. When the Ukraine and Georgia fulfil those conditions, they are welcome to apply again. I think Josip Vissarionovich Stalin is turning in h**l that his homeland wants to be a NATO member.

It was mainly France and Germany who were behind the veto over whether to admit the Ukraine and Georgia.

In a world increasingly ruled by access to resources, many western european nations are weary of aggravating Russia who increasingly supplies oil and natural gas.

Basically Russia can turn off the taps and/or increase the prices as and when they like.

Absolutly not! We want to destabalize Russia as much as possible, They are our true enemy they have been since the end of world war 2. The U.S. and Russia wage war thrue other countrys like Iran and Bosnia, Russia sells these rogue countrys all there weapons, do you think Hezbolla knows there really saluting Russia every time they hold up their AK-47s, What about Iran they give their Russian weapons to Iraqi terrorists to kill american soldiers, We need to make sure our next and future presidents have enough guts to stand up to Russia and Putin or else there gonna play us like a international puppet show, Put up the missile defense system now ignore Russia, their steadily getting richer employing the same plan and tactics we used against them to cause the collapse of the soviet union, we can use Ukraine and Geogia against them and at the same time offer them Democracy and Freedom.

i think yes because the USA use this organisation to obtain the help of the members for their own wars, they want to share the expenditures... this is the only goal of this organisation useless nowadays

Some members of NATO Germany,France show that every time their economic interests or security is threatened they give in and break. Giving a prospective nation a Membership Action Plan does not grant them automatic membership. To say that those who for economic or weak willed political will say that they didn't say no is BS. This is  yet another reason not to remain a part of an organization who is unable or unwilling to take action and wants others to bear more of the economic and personal hardship that guarantees a good partner in security.

Those countries are sovereign states and they can and should be able to make their own decision. Russia is a bully and  they are blackmailing everyone. georgia even had a referendum where 77% of the people voted in favor.

why do you think they want it ? because russia is not very nice to them just like the rest of the world. they are dropping bombs on their lands and treat everyone like part of their empire. they dont want to be VICTIMIZED again just like in 1921 when they were occupied and made communist by russians and lost nearly a century of their valuable time serving some disastrous evil state .
