Question:

Has Pizza Hut changed the crust recipe for their Pan style?

I just got a Large Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut. Their pan pizza used to be the best pizza around, if a little expensive.

But this crust tastes like they put a pound of sugar in the dough before they cooked it. The last time I got a pan pizza it was the same thing, but I thought maybe someone had accidentally given me a Hand-tossed crust. The hand-tossed crust has always been too sweet, which is why I switched to their pan crust.

I'm wondering if Pizza Hut has changed the recipe for the pan crust, too. Because if so, I'm going to have to change to another pizza place. I can't even eat this, anymore.

Does anyone know if this is so?

  1. They absolutely have!  But, more importantly, taste the sauce carefully next time and you will taste TIN CAN!...wonder how long those things sit in cans before they open and add water.   They have found cans on Mount Everest from 1910 that still have edible food in them...

  2. lol your asking a question bout pizza hutt?

  3. I do not believe so.  Around here they are still serving the same crust for pan, hand-tossed, and thin.  It was always my understanding, from former employees, that the dough was all the same, just prepared in different ways and cooked for various times.

I know a few years ago the recipe to their crust was released and now can be made at home.  I have made it a few times and it is good, but still doesn't compare to the actual pizza they make.
