When you have to describe an individual do you avoid mentioning his race at all cost. Like in: Bring these to Steve…who is Steve…U know the guy with the white shirt, brown pants, about 5’ 9”….nope still don’t know who he is…The black guy in accounting…OMG I can’t believe u just said that…what, he IS black, now go bring him the files!

  1. you are absolutely spot on,its pathetic, surely things were simpler when a spade was a spade, and a blackboard was a blackboard not a chalkboard.

  2. without a doubt. it's ridiculous. these days, simply acknoweledging that someone is of another ethnicity is some kind of taboo. WTF?

  3. Yesterday I saw a BLACK MAN in the parking lot and he said "hi". The girl in the shop was ASIAN and no one could mistake my friend for WHITE.

    What political correctness?

Pretend that it does not exist and maybe it will go away. I aim to be truthful and descriptive. Race is just one good way to tell people apart sometimes. It is even better to describe their color such as Honey brown, pale cream...etc.

  4. I don't hear as much of it as I did about ten years ago.  We need it, but the example you used (and I have heard this exact thing about 10 years ago) does go over the top.  I think in recent years it has toned down some.

I know one person who thinks PC is going to blow up in our faces.  He thinks that people aren't talking about true feelings anymore and it will come out sideways and violently.  He does have a point - all we have now is clever bigots who know how to hide what they really think.

  5. Omg I totally agree.
