Has Ricky Hatton lost to Bernard Hopkins in the past?

In the preview for Calzaghe Vs Hopkins this weekend it said Calzaghe may succeed where Hatton didnt, i thought Hatton had only ever lost to Mayweather?

Hatton has never fought Hopkins because he's in a different weight class and his only loss is of course to Mayweather Jr as both were undefeated when they met.

Joe is coming to the states to take on bernard aswell, so maybe he can "succeed where hatton didn't" in his "big one" in the states.

They never fought.  They probably said that statement because Calzaghee is an undefeated European who is coming to America and trying to win a big fight.  Just like Hatton tried, but was very unsuccessful.

Hopkins is a light heavy weight and Hatton is a welter weight, about 30lb difference in weight.  What they were referring to is Calzaghe winning in America where Hatton lost.
