  1. Russia is located in both Europe and Asia. They prefer to be independent of the EU yet also cooperate with them. At this time it appears that Russia is not really sure who they would like to join with; they are courting the EU and China at the same time. I suspect that Russia will not join the EU and that if Russia wanted to, they would not meet the requirement concerning human rights and democracy anyhow.

  2. I doubt Russians would even want to join the EU. They don't even like us and turn their nukes towards us. The only use they have for Europe is to sell their gas to it.

  3. Russia will never join EU and not only because of human rights and democracy. There is no need for such cooperation. EU was created to make an economic and political force that can protect itself well in the world. Germany is a strong country but alltogether they have GDP more than in US.

Russia will not get too much gains from this, but will lose its independence in politics, because they will have to listen to others opinion.

P.S. Does Russia belong to Europe or Asia, and where it should go - is neverending dispute among russians themselves, so will for sure stay in the middle))

  4. Russia is on the wrong continent for that (Asia).
