I know they are already helping them by giving weapons etc, but did they promise military intervention if Iran is attacked?

  1. short of it- no they havn't

long of it- no they havn't

supplying arms is still a long way from giving direct support.

  2. NOT IN SO MANY WORDS BUT THE THOUGHT IS THERE. DON'T YOU KNOW THAT AT LEAST HALF THE WORLD HATES US. AND MOST OF THE OTHER HALF WOULD LOVE TO SEE US FALL ON OUR FACE. WHERE DO YOU THINK THE R-11, R-17, AND R-300 SCUDS MISSILES CAME FROM THAT WERE USED BEFORE IN THE REGION. HAVE YOU NOTICED MOST OF THE ARMS SHOWN BY OUR ENEMIES, AND FORMER ENEMIES ARE RUSSIAN AK47s.

  3. I don't know if Russia would risk nuclear confrontation with the US.  But the US should stop being the bully in the world and stick to their own border.

  4. lol dude, since u havenothing to do Russia is the bad guy now huh?! russia sold iran nuclear waste, which is used to make nuclear power, no one sold anyone no god d**n weapon, ( they're not like americans who were suplyin Taliban with weapons against USSR  n now those weapons fightin bak against ur soldiers) and no one signed any kind of agreement about helping Iran,

go do ur homework son, u don't know anything about it anyways

  5. Idle question, no one will attack Iran since the US is too busy.

  6. Russia and Iran are allies so as far as promising intervention , one can almost count on it. I say almost only because it would depend on who does the attacking of Iran.

  7. Sam :  In the past 2 years Russia sold Iran over 700 million dollars worth of weapons including high tech Surface to Air missiles

  8. Difficult to answer. Consider this... First, why would Iran insist on building its own nuclear weapons if Russia gave a guarantee to support it if ever attacked?. Surely, it's not worth for Iran to have to go through many years of sanctions if Russia made a 100% commitment to support it. Second, Russia may use Iran as a bargaining chip in dealing with the US and NATO against US plans to build missile shields in Eastern Europe (meaning that Russia may not cooperate with the US by using its veto at the UN to oppose any military action on Iran if the US didn't abandon its plan of building missile shields in Russia's backyard). Third, Russia got a lot business investments inside of Iran. Those business interests would be jeopardized if Iran was attacked.

On the other hand, Russia made a statement saying that it would not stand idle if Iran were attacked. This statement was made many months ago, at the height of the heated exchange in verbal rhetorics between Bush and Ahmadinejad that sent waves of fears that an American military strike was imminent.

But then, Russia halted the delivery of vital parts needed in the construction of Iranian nuclear reactors (Russia won the contract to build Iran's nuclear reactors) when Iran was behind by many months in payment.

Quite a mixed signals here from Russia. One moment, it seems that it will be helping Iran, then the next moment it appears that it's not. The west is unsure of Russia's real stand regarding Iran.

  9. Iran is not buying weapons from anyone they are trying to become self suffiecient and make their own weapons.........last thing russia gave Iran was fuel for their nuclear reactors

  10. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated "An American attack on Iran will be viewed by Moscow as an attack on Russia." during his visit to Tehran for the Caspian Sea summit.

However an attack on Iran would not be in Russia's best interest since them and China have multibillion-dollar oil and natural gas projects hanging in the balance, and China depends on Iran's imports to quench its oil thirst.

Now he may have just said that to get more contracts with Iran or more weapons sales, ect.
