  1. um the closest was zambrono chc    hehit a home ruin in the bottom of the 8th and that was the winninmg run

  2. I doubt it.

Unless they were in the 16th-20th inning, there's no reason that a manager would leave a pitcher in late into a close game.

  3. I only know of two current pitchers who's hit a home run in a game, and they're Daisuke Matsuzaka back when he played in Japan, and Micah Owings who got the Silver Slugger Award for National League pitchers in 2007.

The pitcher with the most carrer home runs was Wes Ferrell with 38.

  4. There's probably been many in the deeps of time, but I found tonight only two (not nearly trying to be exhaustive), and both were in 1966.

15-July-1966, Orioles at Tigers, bottom of the 13th: pitcher Earl Wilson (typically a starter) pinch-hits for current pitcher Bill Monbouquette with two out and two on. Wilson launches an offering from Stu Miller, ending the game, 8-5 Tigers. Had the game gone to the 14th, Wilson would have taken the mound. Box: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/...

Not exactly what we're looking for, though, is it? A pitcher, but he wasn't in the game pitching. Okay.

21-Sept-1966, Pirates at Giants, bottom of the ninth: the Giants pitcher is working on a complete game, but just allowed two in the top of the ninth (a Mazeroski single scored Clemente and Stargell -- don't ya just love the names in 60s boxes?) and is facing a 5-3 deficit. Leading off the bottom, Jesus Alou singles and Tom Haller homers to tie it up. One out later, our hero, prepared to start the tenth if necessary, ends it and gives himself the win with a solo blast off Roy Face. 6-5, Giants. The pitcher/slugger: HOFer Juan Marichal. 5. I believe this year, Arizona used Owings (who is a pitcher) as a pinch hitter and he hit a 3 run home run.  That may have been a walk off.

However, since 'walk offs' aren't official stats, hits and home runs don't get sub-categorized as such.  It'd be hard to say for sure.

Odds are that it's happened at some point though
