  1. ????????? its a horse race so what are you on about????

  2. 3  years old only  .it's age discrimination

  3. The English Derby is for 3 year old colts and fillies only, therefore a horse is not eligible to run.   Although fillies are allowed to enter, they usually run in the Oaks.

  4. all derbys are for 3 year olds only, regardless of s*x....

  5. Has a horse ever won the derby? Tell me you can't be that stupid?

  6. *sigh*

  7. Horses don't run in the Derby but 3 year old colts and occasionally fillies do so I suppose you are right

  8. Are you referring to the fact that geldings are not allowed to run in the Derby?  The Derby (Epsom) is open to entire colts and fillies only, the main reason being a Derby winner needs to be abe to pass on his/her genes for the good of the breed and there is no chance of that happening with a gelding!

Update - ok, I'm adding this at a later date.  YES, technically,  a HORSE has won the Derby:  In 1844 The original winner Running Rein was disqualified as he was actually an ineligible four-year-old horse named Maccabeus.  As he was disqualified you can't really call him a winner, but that's your call.

    Does that answer your question?

  9. Technically, No, since only colts and fillies are eligible.

You're playing with words here, you silly goose.

  10. Actually they gallop in the Derby and the owner wins....OK?

  11. No, to compete in the Kentucky Derby the horse must be 3 years old exactly therefore no "horse" has ever one only colts and fillies.

  12. geldings are not allow to run filles can but they normally run the oaks racing fact bet you didnt know that a horse who has been artificully inceminated are forbidden to race

  13. You're nuts man! still i think you're being smart. i've never seen a horse won it on its own though

  14. A horse has won the Derby every year. The only requirement is that the horse, (colt or filly), be 3 years old or less:

    Kentucky Derby:

    Distance: 1¼ miles

    Track: Dirt, Left-handed

    Qualification: 3-year-old

    Weight

      Colt/Gelding: 126 lbs (57.2 kg)

      Filly: 121 lbs. (54.9 kg)

  15. Colts, fillies, geldings, they're all young horses, so yes, many horses have won the derby.

  16. They gallup

  17. Not the Epsom Derby, I don't know about the other versions.

  18. is it something to do with if the male horse has been castrated or what?are they not called geldings after the op and so technically dont class as full horses in some way? i dunno but i have even less of a clue as to the proprer answer to your question too, sorry

  19. The race is open to 3-year-old entire colts and fillies only.
