Has a jockey ever died whilst riding in the Grand National?

Just wondering what the horse:jockey ratio was. A little sick but asks a question none the less.

  4. Yes.  A rider name of James Wynn was killed in 1862.

  5. Yes. Jockey James Wynn was tragically killed at the fence before the water Jump in 1862. A plain fence, it was generally taken at great speed. Organisers then made it into an open ditch, which came to be known as "The Chair" as it was alongside the seat occupied by the distance judge.
