  1. Every year since 1981, there has been a Man vs. Horse Marathon.  The distance is currently 22 miles.  Humans are allowed to compete by bicycle or on foot.  Huw Lobb became the first human on foot to beat a horse at that distance in 2004.  This year, 2007, the first two finishers were both humans on foot.

Jesse Owens did indeed race thoroughbreds at the 100 meter distance.  He won at least once, but the horse reared up and shied at the sound of the starter's pistol, so it was not a clean race.

  2. When jesse owens one the olympic gold medal he didnt get any money becasue he wasnt sponsord. So in order to get money he would race horses for promotional purposes. He would always end up shy of winning

  3. jesse owen ran against horses at los alamitos back in the day, and

this year on the east coast a running back out ran a horse.

  4. yeah, River Downs does a yearly event where one of the Cincinnati Bengals races a horse.

Zippy Chippy once raced a minor league baseball player (I forget who) and lost.

  5. not to my knowledge but Fox did a crappy reality gameshow a fe years back where an olympic runner raced a zebra...the zebra won....obviously cuz a zebra can get up to 40mph and so can a horse..an really fast guy can maybe hit 20
