  1. Caused them to happen, yes. Simply hitting into a triple play will do that.

Been the player recorded out three times, No -- not in the majors, anyway. It may have happened in the minors sometime over the past century-plus.

It would take a very high scoring inning. Get the one batter to the plate three times to make an out, that requires 19 plate appearances if he leads off; leave the bases loaded; it mandates scoring at least 13 runs, and that really does not happen often.

  2. impossible..... you can only get out 1 time per inning and then you go back to the dugout...... its happened many times on the defensive sidde but not the offensive

  3. I cannot find anything to back this but if I recall there was a unassisted triple play made a couple years back- thought it was featured on ESPN Sportscenter but I cannot find it.

UPDATE:  According to ESPN MLB there have been a total of 14 unassisted triple plays in MLB history- the latest came on May 12 with the Cleveland Indians by Asdrubal Cabrera who ironicly was sent back to the minors shortly after for his low batting average.

  4. Yes.

  5. I don't think so, but many players have made two outs in an inning.

To do this, you would need to send a minumum of 19 players to the plate with the rally killer being put out in the 1, 10 and 19 spots. Sending 19 players to the plate has only happened a few times in history, so the odds are very slim.

  6. Hey e, it's not impossible.  You CAN get more than 1 out in an inning.  Stop anwering questions if you don't know the rules of baseball!

  7. Nope. It's never happened.
