  1. The Hugo Awards and Nebula Awards are prestigious honors that specifically target books in the sci-fi and fantasy genres.

  2. In addition to what the first person responded, the Edgar awards, or The Edgar Allan Poe Awards are presented every year by the Mystery Writers of America.

The Bram Stoker Award is a recognition presented by the Horror Writers Association (HWA) for "superior achievement" in horror writing.

The Horror Guild awards, or The International Horror Guild Award, is a recognition presented by the International Horror Guild to recognize the achievements of those who create in the field of Horror and Dark Fantasy.

    Also the World Fantasy Awards.

You can look up the specifics and even previous winners of these awards, via Wikipedia or Google.

  3. I am part of the Golden Duck Committee that gives awards to childrens and Young Adult science fiction. We have been doing this for 17 years.

  4. if you're talking mainstream "literature" competitions, probably not.  they're usually dismissed as "popular" & not serious no matter how well-written they are.

it's the same reason comedy films don't win the academy award for best picture.  it has to be something "serious" & "meaningful."
