I have a dear friend that is a social worker.  She has shown me how to make good choices by giving me valid options and good resources.  We work in the medical field and I have heard her referred to as "An angel" by many families because she is caring and compassionate but she empowers the families to make good choices because she provides them with the information, resources and options they need. It is confusing and scary to have a sick family member.  A social worker can ease the stress by making all the 'red tape' understandable.
