  1. It has certainly raised my awareness of the type of nonsense being tossed about by well meaning, but poorly informed people.  I plan to protest this silliness by turning on all of my lights, taking a nice long hot shower and then driving my Hummer to the bar to watch sports on their 72 inch plasma TV.  I urge all like minded individuals to do so as well.

  2. I think Earth Hour should be something people think of MORE often and not just once a year.

  3. Earth hour! Who cares?

  4. of course not.

turning off your lights for one hour is not only designed to reduce emissions in the world for an hour, but rather to raise the awareness of people regarding global warming in the long-term.

it is pointing out that we can make a difference in the future of the world even in simple ways like turning off lights for an hour. but it also goes beyond that because it also raises awareness on how to save the environment in different ways.

  5. The carbon footprint would have been enormous but how do you get your point over to the media now days, its not a door to thing, or is it ? instead of millions of people getting the message you could only do a few thousand a week if you had enough volunteers.

  6. Yes, the energy and materials used to promote it far exceed what will be they think will be saved. The real issue is that the promoters and the people who will turn their lights off for an hour have no idea how electricity is produced. They might know it comes from a certain type of power plant but don't understand how electricity is generated. The "Earth Hour" idea is strictly a feel good idea.

  7. I don't think so cuz that energy wouldve been used for somehin else anyways so at least it serves a purpose.
