Has an amd anthlon duel core processor 64 X2 5200+ enough power for an 8800gtx?

hi everyone i am hoping to upgrade to an 8800gtx from an 8400gs because it does not work well with my 20.1 inch moniter will an amd anthlon duel core processor 64 X2 5200+ have enough power to run it.

  1. Yes, your cpu will not be a bottleneck.


  2. Well I'd personally recommend the 9800GTX, they're about the same but uses less power and it's also fairly cheap and easy to find nowadays.

    Your CPU runs at 2.70GHZ, while there are other factors to consider, your GPU will run well with the CPU.

    As a general rule of thumb for screens that are 24inch and bigger, GPU performance do get hampered by CPU's with speeds lower then 2.60GHZ.  

  3. I have the AMD 64 X2 5000+ and Geforce 8800GTS and I'm not having any problems.

  4. What a crazy question! The CPU and GPU could be from different planets but as long as the PSU has enough power (which yours does, incidentally) and both are compatible with the motherboard, then you're fine!
