  1. Please look at this site, it has a good amount of up to date info on the care of tortoises.

    http://www.tortoisetrust.org/backidx.htm...

Also join this forum. There are loads of breeders and keepers of torts on there and will answer any questions you have. Which will save you time and money in the future and lots of hassle too.

Just be sure to avoid vivs, pellets and heat mats. There are lots of pictures of peoples housing for their torts both inside and outside. There are also loads of pics of weeds that are suitable for your tort to eat. You can literally feed your tort for free!

So please join as it is a huge help for me and i've had torts for many years.

And spur thighed torts are not the same as sulcatas, sulcatas are also called african spurred, not african spur thighed which is a common misunderstanding. But just to be sure properly ID your tort by using google images or by checking out the links i have sent you on spur thighed torts.

  2. I have 2 Spure-thighed tortoises and soon to be 3 Check out this sight it's all about Spur-thighed tortoises. Spur-thighed tortoises are the EXACT same thing as Sulcata tortoises, EXACT same thing, so try this website on caring for your Sulcata tortoise or Spur-thighed tortoises, absolutely no physical, or geographical difference what so ever.

    Good Luck=D

here are some sites for you to look at that might be of some use to you the med spur thigh do well with the higher end of the heat range, they love to bask, they are quite energetic as juveniles but become a bit of a slow coach when they get older and bigger, they don't like the cold at all and the slightest dip in temp they sleep more, they do well on a natural weed diet  but the diet does need to be varied as they can be fussy eaters, too much of one food and they get bored of it , mine seem to love the slate and sand i have in their pen, they like the sand and slate to heat up and then they will spend most the day  basking on it, they go in the hut in the height of day as although they like their enclosures hot they don't like the direct sunlight of mid day, the meds can be more prone to respiratory infections and other problems so you need to research them and get their enclosure right, don't keep these tortoises in a tank they will do much better on a tortoise table, if you are looking to get a book on these tortoises then i would recommend "mediterranean tortoises by lance jepson"  i find the mediterranean tortoises lovely to look after i have one med spur thigh that will follow me about when i am near her she is big and slow but seeks more human company than the company of the other tortoises so they are one of the easiest tortoises to get hand tame and like nothing better than being hand fed and having their shell stroked, but the best tip i can give is to research your tortoise and do your best to care for it
