    on the bottom is USS Lexington. Unfortunately our super carriers have to round the horn they are too big for the canal. Cape of Good Hope to go from east to west or vice versa.


  2. This was done several times during and after WWII (though modern carriers are too large.)

  3. I don't have definite data.  The modern ones are probably too large, but WWII vintage ones were smaller and probably did.
