I'm pregnant, active duty, and stationed in germany. I'd like to go back to the states to deliver. I've read the "female readiness guide" and it says it's all up to my comander. Got that. But My question is, has anyone been through that, and if so, when does comercial airlines frowm on pregger women flying? (at what week). Also when can my baby fly home, and would I have to get it's passport prior to me leaving the states? Any info websites, etc would be greatly appreciated!

  1. I have not been through this but flying is pretty safe up to about 35 weeks.  They don't like you going after that, not because it is not safe, but because they don't want you going into labor while in the air.  As for the flight home, a baby can fly at a few weeks old as long as it is healthy.  It would probably be easier at that age because the baby will sleep most of the time.  Best of luck!

Sorry, I forgot you would need to get a passport for the baby, by the time you get that, the baby will be good to go!

  2. I am stationed in Germany as well. Actually i am in stuttgart and i had a baby not too long ago. You can fly at 34 weeks but if you decide to have the baby and then fly you will have to wait for the little ones passport which will take about two months. Good luck with your pregnancy!!
