  1. Bacterad is formalin, which is generally more effective against parasites than bacteria, but will have some affect.  The above listed hydrogen peroxide would be the best choice for open wounds, but methylene blue, potassium permanganate, and even rubbing alcohol are not uncommon local sterilization methods.  Rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide should be found in paramedic kits, but I would carefully read the ingredient list.

BUT, most ulcers in fish are caused by infections not just at the surface.  Septicemia, which is a systemic blood infection, will not be affected by topical dabs, nor will many of the other infections, from Iridovirus to fish TB, which (with the exception of Iridovirus) should be treated with medications in the water and/or food.

  2. I'm not sure I understand you, but there are some human medications for treating wounds that you can use on fish.  They are as follows:

Hydrogen Peroxide (apply directly to wound gently with a cotton swab)

Mercurechrome (spelling?) (apply directly to wound gently with a cotton swab)

Melaleuca oil/tea trea oil (not directly - dilute extremely and add to water)

I would not try anything else.
