I had problems with my bcp and I switched around a few times, all between low dose pills such as alesse or aviane. I got fed up with having multiple periods in a month, the doctor told me i was taking them incorrectly (i'm taking the correctly) and I've been on them for almost 2 years so I know its not that my body was adjusting. Anyways, I pretty much demanded to get higher strength pills from my doctor (as he tried to put me back on brands i'd already friend), and he eventually prescribed me tricyclen. (NOT tricyclen lo).. has anyone else switched up from a low dose to a higher dose, and what were the side effects or differences you noticed?

  1. I've been on tricyclen for a number of years bc I have no ability to stop my periods from coming otherwise.

It didn't affect me in anyway, no side effects not even weight gain. It did the trick until my last pregnancy where I just bleed no lie for 50 days.

I'm now on a higher dose-Marvelon 21- that treats endometriosis with no side effects whatsoever. I need it I guess so it reacts well with my body. I even take it three months straight without stopping as per docs advisement.

If you do happen to notice side effects, they usually subside within the three months, that's why it's important to give it a full chance
