Or for that matter, has any man ever won 4 straight? I know Connors won 5 Opens on 3 different surfaces (the only man who will ever accomplish that) but he didn't do it in consecutive years. And who's your pick to win it this year, both men and women? For the men, I'm picking Djokovic because I think this court's too fast for Rafa and Roger is playing horrendously (for him). For the women, its a total tossup but I'll go with Dinara Safina who's been on form lately.

  1. Hi -

From 1881 to 1887, Richard Sears, an American, won the US Open every time, making him the leader of most consecutive US Opens with 7 titles. Second is Roger, 2004-2007, with 4 consecutive wins. :D

My pick for the mens is Nadal. He's on the hottest winning streak because of his new style of play. Lately he's been more cautious and smarter in his manner of play, ending points earlier to avoid tension on his knees.

I agree with you that on the womens is Dinara Safina, she's by far the most consistent and talented player on the womens side this year, in my opinion.

By the way, about the court being too fast for Nadal - it's the exact same surface as Beijing, which he won :D So I don't think it's a big problem anymore.

    Good question
