Billy Coutu, Boston Bruins: He became the first player banned for life after starting a brawl in Game 4 of the 1927 Stanley Cup final for punching referee Jerry LaFlamme. In October of 1929, the suspension was lifted so Coutu could play in the minor leagues, although he never played in the NHL again. In 1932-33, at the insistence of Montreal Canadiens owner Leo Dandurand, Coutu was reinstated to the NHL.

Maurice Richard did it before his infamous suspension....which was partially why he was suspended!

IDK if any player ever has, but given some of the seriously s**+tty calls they can make at times, I think it would be an awesome thing to see...lol

Don't know, but I imagine a player could face battery charges for that. I'm sure plenty have thought about it.
