My friend was robbed and he lost his indian passport stamped with US B1 Visa and I-94

Is it possible to leave US with out original passport if he can provide VISA number, copy of passport ?

He has applied for duplicate passport to Indian Consulate and it may take 2 months to get duplicate passport?

What is the procedure for leaving US as his duplicate passport won't have visa and I-94?

  1. Your friend does not need a US visa in order to leave the US.  However, he does need to turn in an original or official duplicate I-94 upon his departure from the US.

A replacement I-94 requires submission of form I-102 and a filing fee of US$160.  Failure to submit an I-94 upon departure may lead to a future finding of ineligibility to return to the US.

    See the site below:

  2. In addition to what Curious wrote, your friend will not be allowed to leave the US without a passport because no airline will board him if he doesn't have a valid travel doccument.
