My mom held me back 1 year. She homeschooled me and i am still homeschooled and its now affecting where i could go. I am 13 and in 7th grade (ANNOYING!) I'm telling my mom i could do 8th grade all summer and skip to 9th and shes saying i cant do that. Which means she wont teach 8th grade to me. Its almost as if she WANTS me to be held back. At this rate i wont go to college till i am 19. and i wanna be OUT OF THIS HOUSE by the time i am 18 and i wanna go to college so i HAVE to skip a grade. Help??

  1. there seem to be other issues than your mom wanting to home school you. It seem that your mom isn't looking at your point of view, only hers. Is your father in the picture? What does he has to say? If you really want to attend school like ordinary 13 years old, here are some suggestions:

    1-play dumb

    2-ask other relatives(without your mom knowing)to step in(the more the better)

    3-look sad all the time : {

    4-ask her when are you going shopping for your graduation gown.

    in other words do reverse psychology.

  2. yeah its possible 4 u 2 do a grade this summer

    and u can decide whether u wanna b homeskoold or not! go 4 it and if she ses no dont talk 2 her 4 a week that mite change her mind or start a petision

  3. I'm glad you want to go to college.   There must be a reason why your mom held you back.  You should go online and do a practice MCAS test.  Texas schools have them online.  www.tea.state.tx.us.  Take a few samples and show your mom the results.

    If you are a brat and yell at your mom and do not show some self control,  yes, I think your mom might want to hold you back.

    College is not easy.  Some kids have nervous breakdowns the first year, for various reasons they could not handle it.  I think being a little older and going to college is a good idea.  You will still make a lot of friends, even though you are a year older.

  4. You're the first HS student I've heard of being held back a year. Unless you're doing some sort of fixed online school you should be able to do more than one grade per year, what does the summer 'vacation' matter? but you have to be willing to put in the work.

  5. You better figure out something

  6. Actions speek better then words.  Prove to her that you can do 8th grade work.  Work a head to show her that you can.  That is the only thing that I can think of.  Good luck.

  7. I was held back in ninth grade math after my mom caught me cheating (the only time I have ever cheated).  But other than that, I have never been held back a grade.  Seriously, if you are honestly concerned about your education, than why not start teaching youself?  You are more than old enough to be in charge of your own education.  It will take lots of self discipline and hard work, but you technically could do it.  If you are just worried about getting out of the house when you are 18, you are preaching to the chior.  Getting out of the house is not all it's cracked up to be.  Even if your parents  pay for college, you might have to cover housing costs, food, insurance, car payments, gas, it all adds up.  Trust me, this is not something you want to hurry up.  Once it starts, it only ever gets worse.  There will always be more bills to pay.

    If your parents really spoil you and won't make you pay for anything, then I wouldn't be so quick to leave the house that provides you with everything.
