Riyadh:-

The U.S. Navy expected the arrival of the hurricane to the Sultanate of Oman and then to the Saudi capital Riyadh where it will be at it's most power. The anticipated Hurricane will be directed towards the Arabian Peninsula until it reaches Riyadh and the eastern region, and expectations that the ratio of rain to hit Riyadh 70 mm especially south of it, God willing. On the other hand, warned meteorology person Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Awad that there is a hurricane coming from the Indian Ocean approaching from the Arab Gulf states including Saudi Arabia. He added in his statement to "Al-Riyadh news letter:" There are three possibilities for the path of the hurricane around the Kingdom in the way to the North between the Riyadh region and among eastern region, and second bath to be derailed over the waters of the Arabian Gulf and the deepening Ras Tanura until after the strike many of the Areas bordering the waters of the Arabian Gulf from the West, the third possibility.

  1. Although a few hurricanes have hit Oman in the past, there is no way one would make its way through the desert into Saudi Arabia.

  2. This news has spread from News Todays Forum as shown below.

My answer is just wait and watch the situation but be prepaired for worst.

  3. This is not true.

As long as the hurricane remains over waters of 79F or warmer (there is no considerably huge body of water in Riyadh), it continues to pull moisture from the surface and grow in size and force. When a hurricane crosses land or cooler waters, it loses its source of power, and its wind gradually slow until they are no longer of hurricane force--less than 74 miles per hour.

With this, how will a hurricane which originated off the coast of Oman will reach Riyadh and become even stronger?

  4. I got an email with the exact same content. I searched on the internet and checked the major weather websites but did not find any related info.

The point which got me thinking was "at its most power" in Riyadh. I thought a hurricane started to die upon hitting the land...not gain energy!

  5. None of the weather forecasts for the region seem to show this storm.  I am leaving on a road trip to Oman tomorrow and cannot find any information suggesting unsettled weather conditions.  Maybe just another internet rumor.  The US Navy doesn't usually forecast regional weather conditions!
