  1. it's a UK thing

how can you manage it? Obviously there is strong evidence he was guilty of a crime, and you must have agreed to him being given the caution.

Maybe raise your children to be more respectful and law abiding?

  2. Yes. Dont worry, if he/she got a caution, the police will do this several times before they really do anything, unless its a serious crime. Only repetative bad behaviour will result in charges although they give them quite a fright, and it usually works.!

  3. No - partly because I'm as a  parent, I've brought her up to be a moral being, respectful of laws and other people - and partly because she's only seven months old.

  4. i never heard of a police caution. sounds like something he made up to put a little fear into the kid. if it worked, go with it. might do you some good down the road.

  5. not yet lol

  6. A police caution is nothing ... all it does is give the child a criminal record, which will stay with them for about 5 years. To my knowledge it gets wiped off after that (per the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1984 - I think). It will not show up on any CRB checks.

They're officially for children called "remprimands", it used to be an officer of the rank of Inspector or above who had to give it ... this has changed since they're "more popular" for want of a better phrase, they can be even sent through the post apparently. Its the "slap on the wrist" method of dealing with crime.

Don't worry about it, just keep your child disciplined, I'm not a parent so won't go on about as to how that should be done, suffice to say I'm not a supporter of smacking kids. You know when its getting bad when the CPS charge your child and is to appear before a Magistrates' Juvenile Court ... their powers are pretty low, I think all they can do is order anger management or an ASBO.
