  1. We did an Alaska cruise on Princess a few years ago and we went in May.  The weather was nice then and I am sure would likely be a little warmer in June, July or August.  The prices are better in May and Sept.  But the weather that we had was just fine.  A light jacket and long sleeves was all that was needed when we got off the ship for tours.  There are a couple of places, like Ketchkan and Juneau, where it will likely rain and so be kinda raw if you don't have on a sweater and light jacket.  But its not necessary to take a winter coat.  Now when you get close to the glaciers, even going up the channel through the ice flows, it will be cold and hat and gloves are advised.

The Royal Caribbean ship you go on, likely the Radiance, will have a covered pool and hot tub area in addition to the regular pools and hot tubs which do not have a top over them but are rather enclosed because they are a deck down from where the wind can get to you..  So you can plan on using them to swim or sun.

The Alaska cruise is one of the smoothest cruises that you can go on because cruising the inside passage is kinda like cruising up a river, not much ocean action .

My advice is go on the cruise AND, consider doing the cruise-tour that provides a land tour also.  We did the land tour and our land tour included a bus ride (about 3-4 hrs) from the port to Anchorage.  Then we toured an Alaska Native Heritage site and spent the night.  The next morning we boarded a train (RC, Princess and Holland America use it) from Anchorage to Fairbanks.  The train stopped a couple places on the way to Fairbanks that you could get off and spend a night or two.  WE chose to spend one night at the  Denali National Park Princess Lodge.  After a tour of the park the next day we boarded the train again for Fairbanks.  That's the best way to see Alaska, wild animals, and that's my advice.

  4. You did not say when you are going. I have gone to Alaska 22 times mostly in May and have never wore anything but, a lite jacket. Only rain once for 3 hours. You are between 2 bodies of land so sea is calm. If you return by outside passage possible alittle rough seas. Nothing to worry about. No matter what you wear if you do get cold there are plenty of places inside the ship to see the sights from/

    ENJOY.

  5. Nope never done anything but Disney Cruise. I'm going on my third in April. It's 3 times more expensive but you get what you pay for! GO DISNEY!!!
