Has any one else noticed or is this just me?

Well, just me and my bf actually

We've noticed that when you drink coke from a bottle(cold), it's not that great. When It's from a can(cold), it's ok, again, not great. But when you go to a restaurant, or anywhere else, where they serve it with ice in a glass or cup with a straw, it's just way better. I was wondering, why is this, or is it just us?

I think because it's served to you fresh and cold, not like a bottle or a can.

It's because in the bar or restaurant, the plastic tubes leading from the syrup containers to the fountain are filthy. I know I used to clean them where I worked. They are packed with sledge and bacteria, sometime rat urine and roach droppings. All of these things slightly add to the flavor. Some folks, like you and your boyfriend seem to prefer the addition of small quantities of insect f***s and rodent urine.

When I drink Coke from a can or bottle, it is very strong. When I drink it in a glass it is a little better. The ice seems to melt a bit and mellow out the drink.

I've notice that as well, I think it's because its fresher then.

I think it's mind over matter. The coke you get in a glass with ice and a straw looks more tasty and refreshing, so therefore you think it is.

Because not only is it fresh from the fountain, its also got a chance to have more oxygen to get to it. It enhances the flavor.

It because when you buy it already bottled it has been mixed already.

When you go to the restaurant they use soda machines which mix the carbonated water with the syrup right on the spot (like the self serve at fast food places) so its super fresh!

I'm a 20 year coke veteran and here is how it works.In a restaurant or bar there are 2 kinds of coke product.One is a PRE-Mix which is good .its what is says,PRE-MIXED and does taste better w/ice and served in a glass.The Best is called Post Mix. It's a condensed syrup and mixed with water at the coke machine.This tastes by far the best of all .

If you have ever been to an old soda shop like years ago you saw the soda jerk mix coke right in front of you.It was made by 1or2 squirts of coke syrup(postmix)then they added thecarbonatedd water .Umm.........

It tastes better if you pour it over ice than if you drink it directly from the can or bottle, too.

i think it's the ice. i love to crunch on it:) it also separates the coke a bit and makes it less concentrated.
