  1. No never...

  2. Yep. I didn't spear one, but did hand capture it and put it in my goodie bag. And sure enough, by the time I got to shore it was long gone. They are incredibly flexible and can get out of any container that has an inch wide hole in it or -- in the case of the goodie bag -- the space where  the gimp is attached (that's the clasp that holds the mouth of the bag together)  It's eerie to watch them ooze through things, but they do it all the time. I wonder if there are octupi yogas?

  3. They are sneaky, it slipped right out. I was in Mexico and there was a tire with alot of shells in the middle, not thinking I reached in to collect them and there was an octopus in the tire. He wrapped his tentacles around my arm... I started to freak a bit and my dive buddy came over and cut it off. Needless to say my dive was over.We told a guy camping next to us, and he ran right into the water and came out shaking him from the head, and right into a boiling pot of water.I felt really bad for him ( the octopus ) I should have never said anything.
