Has any one experienced Emergency same day British passport renewal in London?

Question

If so how does it work ?

Can you just arrive without an appointment and get your passport renewed.

I have looked at their site but no good info I did call the 24 hour phone line but it was all recorded message.

Please someone help !

LOST OR STOLEN PASSPORTS

Form LS01: Any loss or theft of your passport should be reported to the nearest British Consulate as soon as possible on form LS01, even if you do not intend to apply for a replacement passport immediately. This is important to protect yourself against identity theft. In order to obtain a replacement passport you will need to complete the relevant passport application form in addition to the LSO1.

i do not think you can get a one day passport

There are seven Passport Offices within the UK located at Belfast, Durham, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Newport and Peterborough.

Should you need to attend a Passport Office in an emergency you will need to # make a prior appointment.# You are advised not to make any travel arrangements before you have ensured that you are able to travel with your current passport or you have received your new passport should you require one.

Lines are open 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week. Calls to this number are charged at 10p per minute from BT landlines, calls from mobiles and some networks may be higher and you must have the bill payer's permission.

My bro did it Liverpool but he had an appointment. I think you have to queue for hours otherwise and if they close before your turn, you'd have to go the next day.

I've done it in the Glasgow office.  You queue up in the morning - earlier the better - and when you get in they take your docs and tell you to come back by a certain time in the afternoon.

This was a few years back so im not sure if you can still do it.  Try calling and getting an appointment - it may be a better idea than going all that way and finding out they wont do it without an appointment.

Yes.

I made an appointment in London via the advice line for my boss.  Having had the passport checked at a post office (to be sure all OK), the renewal application and photos were all fine and the passport was renewed.

If you listen to the recorded messages on the advice line you will eventually be able to select to speak to a human.

The procedure is not that difficult but you must be armed with the correct documents and the Visa can be collected the same day at 4PM.You dont need an appointment but once again it all depends on your documents.
