  1. Those of us who don't live in the US have notice this trend since the 60's.

Not trying to cause trouble, but as a country you have been pouring out more and more wastes of space, every year.

You still have your great people (hmm, most of them come from rich and powerful families, wonder if that's a coincidence?) but on the whole, you just don't seem like you should be a world super power.

I'll translate it into high school terms. The rest of the world sees the US as the big dumb jock (thin Ogre in revenge of the Nerds) who can kick the c**p out of us, but could be outwitted by our pet dogs.

  2. I personally believe this is an effect of our American economy and lifestyle.  We live in an instant-gratification nation.  We want something, so we expect to get it.  This kind of attitude makes people greedy.  Greedy ppl tend to not care about others.

Less is expected of us now than back in the day.  Back in the day they expected you to do good in school b/c it was a privelege...now-a-days it's  a requirement, so ppl tend to brush the importance of it off=dim wits lol.

  3. The politicians, socialists, and do-gooders have virtually destroyed the public schools by requiring everything under the sun be taught except readng, writing, and arithmetic.  We now have schools full of social counselors and programs galore and a lot of ignorant children.  The kids are being told what to think instead of how to think for themselves.  Its brainwashing at its finest.  I'm not usually a conspiracy theorist, but I can't help but wonder what the real agenda is here because a generation that knows little is easy to persuade and control.  If I had a school age child now, he or she would not be in a public school.

  4. The intelligent people aren't reproducing because the world is too overpopulated and dirty, but the ignorant people?

They're popping out sextuplets for a chance to be on Oprah.  Low income/uneducated/over religous = a lack of birthcontrol = a country overpopulated with under-average people.

Sigh.  Its a sad, sad thing.

  5. I don't know what possible intellectual interaction you had with the girl at the Doctor's office counter, gas station fella, hardware store fella for you to make that claim.

America is just fine. If you want to tap intellect, go to a library or a university, not the gas station.

  6. Yes . they are everywhere ... Who's educating the young ...

  7. Yes there are allot of contributing factors i won't go into them because people will not like what i say. But Yes there is a subtle but constant effort to dumb us down, for what purpose i do not know.

"How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think".

    Adolf Hitler

  8. Great question!

It's a shame our fawning media -who now have become an appendage of the political and corporate sector- didn't ask this question to every candidate (for the past six months) that ponied-up enough dollars to make believe s/he was a legitimate contender to one day sit in the Oval Office.  I get the distinct feeling that neither the complicit media nor the elitist political parties would actually want to engage such a dialogue.

America is dumbed down and has fallen -precipitously- from grace in the eyes of many Americans as well as most of the world because, since about the 1950s, the leadership of this country have politicized nearly everything -including how our clocks get changed ... it's absolutely crazy!

That politicalization occurs mostly at the behest of lawyers ... and, as the Great Bard quipped way back around 1590 when he wrote the play, King Henry VI, "First thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" and this theme was reintroduced by the Eagles in the song "Get Over It" on their 1994 h**l Freezes Over Album, "The more I think about it, old Billy was right, Let's kill all the lawyers, kill 'em tonight," once the legal folk got access to the classroom, it was a swift death for responsibility and accountability.

Without a doubt, our legal system has fosterd a culture of denial on one hand and entitlement on the other ... it is truly pathetic ... unless, of course, the end-game is the dumbing down of America.

When our educational system is politicized then the focus of instruction and student learning takes a back seat to the infantile and ad hoc deliberations of politicos ... and, when you simply consider their background, it's easy to see that their interests are as far removed from "educating the American people" as possible.

In fact, with recent studies indicating that high school graduation rates -across America-  are hovering at an abysmally low 50% (and places like Detroit have an unfathomable 24% high school grad rate), we have to wonder what in the h**l our Congress and White House (and K Street lobbyists) actually say behind closed doors ...

I envision the dialogue something like this ....

"Well, Senator Such-and Such, you know, in a capitalist economy like ours, we really can't afford to have full employment ... or, for that matter, educated people.  After all, if we really focused on education and providing equal access and opportunity for all Americans then we wouldn't have any [dim-witted] folks going out there and working 2-3 jobs for minimum wage ... and, Senator, quite frankly, that is simply unacceptable for our economy."

I'm not a conspiracy theorist ... but I am an avid reader (including data)- and it's very apparent what our leaders want -and you nailed it, it is truly a "dim-witted populace."
