  1. I just got hired on as a childrens counselor. ive had friends who have worked there in the past and they loved it. Your basically getting paid to play. they start you out at $7.50 but if you are pursueing a career in chilcare and have the potential to move up you may be considered for a site director position which pays anywhere from 25000 to 30000 a year. they ask you a million situational quetions and based on your answers determines if our hired. you also have to take a drug and TB test have a high school diploma, take a background check and have 3 references. its alot i know but its well worth. You do get insurance through them and a free membership to workout if you wish.

  2. I did.

It honestly depends on your standards and the place itself.

When you went there, did you notice the if the counselors where happy, smiling and looked like they were having fun? Or did you see them stressed out and running around trying to round up kids?

There were alot of new counselors that quit at the one I worked at, because the system was not well organized. The ones that stayed there did it because they liked socializing with the other counselors or had nothing better to do until college resumed.

It's an okay job if you are looking to get into teaching, then it will give you a little experience.

Depending on the experience you have and how long you have worked with children is what they hire on. If you have volunteered at a public elementary school, that looks really good. If you given several babysitting contacts, that's even better. But most of all, if you come across as someone mature and dependable during the interview, i.e. someone that's not going to cause them problems and can be trusted with kids, then they'll hire you.

So I'd say it's fairly easy to get hired.

If you like making a low wage, working long hours for less than 2000 a month with no insurance, then it's for you.

    Good luck.
