For example, Ive read that some golfers started playing when they were in their childhoods or preteens: 2 (Tiger), 3 (Sergio), 8 (Lorena), 10 (Paula Creamer), 12 (Annika) and so on, but not teen or adult. Do any of you know if a golfer has started playing for the first time at 15, 16, 18 or 20, etc? Just curious.

  1. Greg Norman was 16. u may have heard of him. KJ Choi 16

  2. I believe that Larry Nelson did not start  until his late teens. He was a baseball player until he threw out his arm. Then he changed his efforts to golf. Lee Trevino also started late.

  3. WAY more than you would think started in their mid or even late teens. Ever heard of Nick Faldo? 14 years old. Adam Scott, he started in his mid teens. There are plenty others. You don't have to be a prodigy. It's all about talent, logic, athleticism, coordination, and grace under fire. This game is 90% mental.

  4. Yes...many

  5. Many, you got nick Faldo  who started at 14 and Greg Norman started at 16 ( and allot more)

and i started when i was 13 and my handicap is on 2 now ( i'm 15 now) if your wondering what age you have to start golf at well...you can start golf at any age, and as the other guy said its 90% mental game
