    There was a storm that struck the Florida Keys in 1935 that had estimated winds of 200 mph, which basically cleared the land of Matecumbe Key.

    Hurricane Camille in 1969 had winds measured at 190 mph, with gusts of 210 mph when it made landfall in at the mouth of the Mississippi River.
