to the person who just answered my question.....vitamin b 17 is real.....although it isnt considered a vitamin anymore.....Vitamin b 17(Laetrile/Amygdalin) is found in apricot seeds among a few other sources such as: bitter almonds wheat gress lima beans( all of which by the way are VERY healthy)....i asked my mother about it....she said when she was younger they sold raw apricot seeds in store....now the government banned it....the bitter almond tree has the highest source of B17.....it was banned in america in 1995

  1. There's no such thing as B17.  That's a made-up designation to try to give a quack product some sense of legitimacy.  It only fools the gullible.

Edit:  NO.  You are wrong about the "real" part.   "Vitamins" are substances that are essential (vital) for life.  Amygdalin is not one of those substances.  Therefore, it is NOT a vitamin.  That is why the designation "B17" is bogus.  It was never accepted by the international authorities as a vitamin, it is simply a marketing ploy.  The facts on the uselessness of amygdalin as a cancer cure were established 40 years ago.

  2. probably the same reason why in other countries selling certain vitamins are illegal. Why are healthy items becoming illegal to sell? I really want to know. I remember the FDA banning a certain Herb, which 153 people died while taking this herb. This herb was curing diseases as well. And i was doing research that advil kills 2000 people a year. Yikes! I wonder why this drug is not banned! and what about also those med drugs that pharmacies give out, around 250,000 people die each year taking these drugs, or so i have read. Hmm...

  3. Laetrile, commonly known as Vitamin B-17 or Amygdalin, is a natural chemotherapeutic agent found in over 1,200 plants, particularly in the seeds of common fruits such as apricots, peaches, plums, and apples. It is a diglucocide with a cyanide radical that is highly "bio-accessible."

There is no federal law against Laetrile, nor does Laetrile appear on an official list of proscribed items.

    It is available in Mexico.

At the Mexican border, U.S. Customs has permitted the entry of amygdalin for private use without benefit of even an affidavit for over a decade. Amygdalin is an extract of apricot kernels, which makes it a food supplement and nothing more. Under FDA guidelines, however, any substance that is used to treat a disorder can be classified a drug. In the U.S., it appears as though the FDA has the authority to label ANYTHING a "new drug" when a claim is made for that substance or even suggestions given as to how to take it.

  4. I'm from Australia (are you in the us perhaps?) and you can still purchase them here. They may have been banned as they did not meet FDA requirements - which is a alfatoxin count of less than 20 ppb.

The link below is an australian website that sells apricot seeds (alfatoxin free).

Something interesting I read as well is that some people believe one of the causes for cancer is not having enough B17 in your diet and doctors recommend cancer sufferers increased levels of B17 in their diets.
