Do you know of any good places to stay, that are central and not to expensive ? Can you recomend any good places to see ?

I lived in Hamburg for a little while. In order to find a hotel check out www.hrs.de (you can switch the language from German into English)

Here are some things you might want to see:

*harbour (Landungsbrücken)

*Michels (it is a church and a landmark in Hamburg)

*Hotel Hamburger Hafen (has a cool cocktail bar on the top and you can overlook the harbor)

*Mönckebergstraße (the shopping mile)

*Elbchaussee (where the rich live)

*Nordsee (Baltic Sea)

*nightlife: Reeperbahn (it is a kind of a red light district and in the Hermanstraße only man can go...;-))

*maybe see a musical

used to stop at the stern hotel, on the reeperbahn

last went in 2000, and it was 27DM per night, about £9

don't know what the prices are like now!
