Has anybody been to Costa De La Luz?

My parter has just booked us a holiday to Costa De La luz for May 2009. Has anybody been and what did you think?

Those are pretty photos that AAG linked you to, but they could be anywhere.

I was there many years ago, and found it to be clean and quiet, compared to what I have heard about the Costa del Sol.  It's still supposed to be gorgeous.

I was at the Costa Del Luz (Coast of Light) late last year. I was in the Mazzagon area south of Huelva.

AAG's photos are wonderful. I recognise some of the places. No matter what people have heard of the Costa Del Sol, most tourists never see the real Costa del Sol.

The Costa Del Luz in general is better for their beaches. They are on the Atlantic coast and because of the tides the beaches a superior to anywhere else in Southern Spain. If you are staying in the Cadiz area make sure you spend a day at Jerez de la Frontera. There is the famous Andalucian Equestrian school there. Every Thursday they put on a show for the tourists. Afterwards visit a Sherry bodega. Most tours end with a free tasting.

Digame is spot on!  I live in Algeciras, just at the tip of the Costa del la Luz. The beaches are gorgeous, go to Tarifa, where the windsurfers hold their championships, go to the bodegas to see -and sample!- the wines, you can also see the Moroccan influence in this part of the world, and if so inclined, take a 1/2 hour ferry across to Africa. There are also a lot more traditional eating places to try, - tacky Torremolinos influence hasn't reached down there yet!   Cadiz beaches are alive with markets  & music even at 2.a.m!  This coast line is where the spaniards like to come for their holidays -and that is a recommendation in itself.
