Has anybody been to Hamburg's nightlife scene?

I am traveling there, and want to visit the famed 'red light district' in Hamburg, Germany.

the reeperbahn is the red light district in hamburg. its calmed down a bit now, but its a lot like how times square used to be, full of s*x shops and drunk homeless people.

It's a must-see if you go to Hamburg. Of course you have to get used to it, because prostitution there is legal and stuff, and lately they passed a law that you can't carry pocket knifes any more, because many fights (drunk people) ended nasty, but overall it is not as dangerous as it might sound. There are some great clubs, bars, it depends on what you are looking for, but whatever that might be, there will be something for you :)
